Festivals in Nepal

   As we know that Nepal is rich in culture. So Nepal people celebrate many cultures. According to their caste they celebrate different culture. Different caste like gurung, magar, rai, limbu celebrate their own festival lohsar and people who are buddhist they celebrate buddha jyaonti. so in Nepal whether different caste celebrate different culture there are lots of festivals celebrated together such Dashain, Tihar, Shivaratri, Rmanawami, Haritalika (teej) etc. some of the festivals celebrated in Nepal can be described as below.

Dashain: Dashain is one of the biggest festival of hindus. It is celebrated in the occasion of Rams victory towards Ravan.It takes place around september - october. This festival last for 10-15 days and given public holiday in this period. During this festival animals were sacrifice in the name of god and also there is a unique to Nepal is that the military  parad which is attended by prime minister and other many people. In this festival tika is very important. we put tika from elders and receive blessing from them.

Tihar: Tihar is also called as Bhai tika. And popularly known as festival of lights. It takes place after the completion of Dashain. Tiahr  main feature is that the lightning of candles all over the house. In this fest
ival sister put tika on theirs brothers forehead and give blessing to theirs brother for long live. And the most interesting thing is that brothers give present to sisters which make sisters happy and enjoyable. The other important day is laxmi puja the goddess of wealth. There is believe that the goddess laxmi visit all the peoples house and protect wealth from loss. Therefore the tradation of lightining of candles all over the houses at night, gambling, feasting and going door to door singing tihar songs called (Bhailo) makes up the activities during the festival. while singing from door to door, household gives money in return singers blesse the household as the goddess laxmi will stay forever in their house.
