Holi

Holi is one of the greatest festivals of Hindus. It is the festival of colors. This festival falls on full moon day in falgun  month of hindu calender.

The story behind the Holi festival is that there was a king called Hiranya kashyap, he had a son Parlad a holy spirit and devoted to god. But Hiranya kashyap was not happy with his son so he planned to kill his own son. He asked her sister Holika, who was immune to fire, to sit in fire taking Parlad in her lap. Fortunately Parlad who was blessed by god stay, alive but Holika was burnt to ashes.

In this day many Hindus people celebrate colors in the occasion of Parlad who came alive from the middle of the fire. This festival is also known as the festival of colors. In Nepal people celebrate Holi in their own way by playing colors with their family and friends. It has a belief that if we play with colors the course we have will be taken away by god.

Thus, it is not a festival of colors but also a festival of unity and friendship. All barriers like caste, creed, position, and language are forgotten and men and women join the fun.
